Accessibility statement

This statement covers the website fachhandwerk.com including its language editions at /fi/, /da/ and /en/.

We publish it voluntarily. No legal obligation applies to this site: EU Directive 2016/2102 binds public sector bodies, and the German Accessibility Strengthening Act covers specific services such as retail and banking – an editorial magazine that sells nothing falls under neither. We still think it is right to state openly what has been tested and what has not.

The standard we aim for

We follow the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, conformance level AA.

Based on our latest review the site meets that level in our own assessment, but not fully verified: some criteria can only be judged by testing with assistive technology, and that test is still outstanding (see “What we have not tested”).

What was tested

Last on 8 August 2026, automatically across all 108 pages of all four language editions:

  • Document structure: exactly one h1 per page, an unbroken heading sequence with no skipped levels, landmarks (header, nav, main, footer) on every page

  • Keyboard operation: no positive tabindex values, a visible focus indicator, a skip link to the content in all four languages

  • Text alternatives: an alt attribute on every image, no link without a label

  • Language: a valid lang attribute per page and edition, meaningful page titles

  • Contrast: calculated for every colour combination in the design system

Defects fixed in the process: two contrasts below the required 4.5:1 ratio (the search field placeholder and the weather readings on the regional pages), heading level jumps on twenty listing pages, a missing landmark on the home page, and a search whose results were swapped out without announcement – it now reports the number of hits and its state through a live region.

What you can expect

  • Usable without a mouse. Every function is reachable by keyboard; a skip link leads past the navigation straight to the content.

  • Readable without JavaScript. All articles, listings and legal pages work with JavaScript disabled. Only the full-text search requires it – without it, the section pages will get you there.

  • Quiet. There are no animations, no self-advancing carousels and nothing that flashes. Your system’s “reduce motion” setting is respected on top of that.

  • No redirects. You land where you clicked; the language changes only when you choose it yourself.

  • No cookies and no storage on your device (see the privacy policy).

What we have not tested

These points are open. We name them because a statement without gaps would not be credible:

  • Hands-on testing with assistive technology. No run with screen readers such as NVDA, JAWS or VoiceOver has taken place. Automated checks are known to cover only part of the criteria – comprehensibility and operating logic in particular cannot be judged that way.

  • Magnification and zoom were not tested systematically across all page types.

  • Illustrations carry alternative texts but no long descriptions. With schematic drawings, meaning can be lost.

  • Regional pages show weather data that changes several times a day. How well it reads without sight is untested.
